Grand Vin de l'Aldemar

2015

Blackcurrant and cedar unfold slowly into graphite, violets and a long, cool mineral finish. The tannins are dense yet weightless — architecture rather than mass.

The Story

A bottle with a past

The Aldemar estate has farmed the same gravel croupe above the Gironde since 1743. The 2015 Grand Vin was born of a warm, unhurried summer — a vintage the cellar master called 'a year without argument'. Only the oldest vines, some past their eightieth harvest, were permitted into the final blend.

We did almost nothing in 2015. The vintage asked only for patience, and we obliged.

Vintage & Cellar

2015 was a near-perfect Left Bank vintage: even flowering, a dry August, and cool nights through harvest preserved acidity beneath generous fruit.

Cellar at 12–13°C, 70% humidity, resting on its side away from light.
